Drew Baldridge – Dirt On Us – Cd Review

51EtJp0JTeL__SS500_SS280

Released: June 10, 2016

Label: Cold River Records

Drew Baldridge is an upcoming artist that I recently had the joy of (finally) seeing live on tour with The Band Perry in New York. I’ve been following him on social media for a while and I have a feeling he is going to be making a name for himself. This is his debut album (which follows the release of his EP “Dance With Ya”), and it is full of songs that could be on the radio. Drew co-wrote every track on the album, and also plays guitar. Drew has been writing songs for years, but his dream is to be an artist and be on stage performing. His lead single off the album is called “Dance With Ya”. Be sure to follow Drew on all Social Media platforms to keep up to date with everything he’s doing.

“Train” is one of a few funky, fun song on the album. Drew does some fast talking/rambling on this song and will have you “choo-chooing” along to the song. The song is just about having a good time and getting on the party train!

“Everyday Night” is about going out and having a good night. Its not your typical night out, its going to be special, one to remember. Drew sings about feeling good, and having a good time with a girl, seeing where it leads to.

“Rebound “ is a duet that features the very talented Emily Weisband. I love this song; and it may be my favorite on the album. More often (I think, or it seems) we hear songs from the opposite perspective; about the guy calling the girl after a break up, and seeing the girl giving in and taking him back. In this song, we have the girl almost taunting the man to take her back, but he knows better than to be her rebound.

“Dance With Ya” is a funky, fun track and one of my favorites on the album. The song has a very disco feel to it, and you can’t help but want to groove with the music. In the song, the guy isn’t looking to take the girl home, he just wants her to show him some moves.

“Dirt On Us” is a song Drew wrote about his friends and growing up. The song is about growing up country and the fun and trouble they used to have. This is a great nostalgic song, and paints a great picture of a much simpler time. I think country fans will love and appreciate this song.

“Drama” is more of an anthem song, or way of life. The song is about just being in the moment with each other, or a girl in this case. No need to complicate things, no strings, no need to meet the family; just keep it simple. Enjoy the night and the moment and see what comes next.

“Burnt Toast” is a cute song about a girl and her cooking skills, or lack there of. The song is about a girl doing her thing in the kitchen, t-shirt and a smile on, and she makes the best burnt toast. You know its love, when you love the person’s flaws.

“Love on Your Body” is a sexy song, but is also playful at the same time. The song is about how lucky this guy is to be with this girl and being the one who gets to mess her hair up, and wreck her make up and love on her. She’s the envy of all the guys around her, and they all just want to be the one she’s calling.

“Everywhere I Go” is a catchy track. I promise you will be singing along with the chorus on your first listen! The song is about a girl, and taking her everywhere you go (not physically).

“Tractors Don’t Roll” is one of the slower songs on the track, but also I think the most “Country”. The song is about country life, enjoying a Sunday in a small town. Life is slower and simpler. Reminds me of songs that artists like Craig Morgan typically sings.

“Curious Girl” is a faster paced song and has a fun beat to it, make me think of  a “Jive”. Drew has yet another song about a lady and wanting to get to know her better. I could see this song being in a movie, and being part of a choreographed dance sequence (think Foot Loose reboot, in the barn).

“Town the World Forgot” is another very “Country” song on the album. The song is painting another great picture of what the small town is about. Drew sings about the hometown boys, trailers, and God. It’s these small towns that really are the hear of our country, and it’s nice to hear songs like this from time to time.

“It Is Well With My Soul” features Mike and Doug Baldridge (which I can only assume are related to Drew). It is the most beautiful song on the track. It has so much soul and passion, I think it will leave you all stunned, just as it left me. Their harmonies on this track give me chills. The song is very simple melody, and the choice of the piano is very fitting.

Little Big Town – Wanderlust – CD Review

1(1)

Released: June 10, 2016

Label: Capitol Nashville

This is the 7th album the group had released (follow up to 2014 Painkiller). This album came as what seems like an unexpected collaboration with Pharrell Williams. Little Big Town was working with Williams on a writing session, and it turned into multiple sessions, and cross country trips making music. Pharrell along with Justin Timberlake served as producers on the album. Now you may be thinking (if you’ve heard the album), this isn’t country music. No it’s not, but we love Little Big Town and they are country so we’re going to talk about the album anyways. If you’ve been a follower of the band for a few years you may remember they used to post video covers from many genres entitled “Smothered and Covered”. I used to love watching those  clips and wished they would record them because they are so talented and their take on some of the biggest songs in the industry was amazing to see. This album, if anything, shows how talented this group is! There is nothing country about any of these 8 tracks, and they killed it! The foursome co-wrote all 8 tracks on the album. Lead single off the digital album is “One of Those Days” which hit radio in May of 2016. This album does a great job of shedding some light and allowing Jimmy and Phillip to shine vocally, as we usually get to see Karen and Kimberly shine vocally on tracks. 7 out of the 8 tracks have the guys leading/co-leading the vocals. If this album isn’t doing it for you, don’t worry. The group is also rumored to be working on their new country album as well.

“One Dance” is my favorite track on the album. The song was also recently performed on the CMT awards in June 2016. The track has this sort of sass and funk/soul to it. It’s a song about a guy and his game. The girl knows what he’s doing and he’s telling her one dance and he’s good for life. She know his moves and can spot them a mile away. He thinks he can get any girl and then come back to her.

“C’Mon” features Pharrell and Justin on the track vocally, which also happened by coincidence. Justin was recording at the same studio as the group and stopped in to visit. Next thing you know, hes doing guest vocals on the track. The song is like bring it! They keep saying are you all talk and no action? Talking is just a fraction of whats going on. It’s a flirty, little sultry sounding song.

“Work” for me had like a Creole or southern/new Orleans feel. The song is about work, sun up to sun down. Someone’s gotta do it, it doesn’t get done by itself. Reminds me of true blood theme song sound  (if anyone ever watched that show).

“Skinny Dippin” is just a fun song. This must be the follow up to “Day Drinking” (haha!). They’re looking to do something fun. The lyrics say its been a while since they’ve done something wrong. They want to be free and just go skinny dipping. The song has a bit of island feel to it; makes you think of being somewhere tropical.

“Willpower” is about taking a chance on love. She wants to get close to this guy and the only thing she has to loose is her willpower. You cant help but bop along with the song.

“Miracle” is a song with a great groovy vibe as well. The song is like calling out, almost like praising, hey I need a miracle!  Reminds me of the 70’s. The chorus is fun and upbeat and then it gets sort of mellow with the verses.

“The Boat”  is a cool sounding song and Phillip’s vocals really makes the track for me. To me, I get a religious tone to it. The song itself at first sounds like it could be a song in a mass – I thought of like Southern mass, big choir, lots of echos in the chorus. They’re singing about the rain that’s sure to come and a boat to save them and withstand the waves. They mention faith and also mention stories being told about these waves. I immediately though of Noah’s Ark. The harmonies in this song are so tight, this is just a great example of their southern roots.

Cassadee Pope – Summer – EP review

Cassadee_Pope_-_Summer_(Official_EP_cover)

Released: June 3, 2016

Label:  Republic Nashville

This is the second EP from Cassadee, and I would assume is being released as she works on/finishes her second full length studio album. The EP is such a teaser (with only about 13 minutes worth of music)! Cassadee’s voice is amazing and the EP leaves you wanting more! I cannot wait to hear when her album will be out and to see what else she’s come up with.

“Summer” is the more recent single released to radio. The song is about summer love that ended. She remembers everything about him, the way he looked, talked, walked, the feeling he gave her; and the way he left her. The “Summer” describes how their romance was, but also how it ended; it was hot and it burned.

“Piano” is about love gone wrong. The song is a clever metaphor for being “played” and getting caught up in the “melody” of romance. This may be my favorite song on the EP and I think would make a great single, and could be a cool music video.

“Kisses at Airport” is the only song on the EP that Cassadee did not co-write on. It is the slowest, softest song on the EP. This song is something that a lot of musicians will relate to, or anyone that travels for a living. It’s a sweet song about kisses at airports and what they mean; sometimes it’s I missed you, or I’m going to miss you, etc. She also then sings about making all kisses like airport kisses. I think this is a good reminder for us all; show your loved ones all the time how much they mean, not just those once in a while moments.

“Alien” is a song that I think should be used in an anti-bullying campaign. The song is about different cliques, or personality types that people get classified as or identify with. She sings about being one type but then having a trait of another group; ex “straight A kid with a fake ID”. At one point or another we are all “alien” or just not fitting in, but we have all been there. But she asks “What’s the point?”. It’s OK to stand out and not be one with everyone else. I think the point of the song is that we are all really the same, we are human and we all go through changes and takes time to find where we belong.

Brothers Osborne – Pawn Shop – Review

untitled(2)

Released: January 15, 2016

Label: EMI Nashville

This is the debut album from the Brothers, who had released only a self titled EP prior to the album’s release. There have been 3 singles released off the album; “Rum” back in 2014, “Stay A Little Longer” in 2015 and most recently “21 Summer” in early 2016. The album debuted at number 3 for Top Country Albums, and number 17 on Billboard 200. The brothers, TJ and John, co-wrote and produced all 11 tracks on the album. I was lucky enough to catch the brothers at an acoustic writers round not too long ago and they said the album is named “Pawn Shop” because they used to get guitar from Pawn Shops. They now enjoy going back to such shops and buying older guitars, even ones they once sold to make ends meet. What I love most about this album is that its not traditional country. The tracks are a good mix of country and rock. TJ’s voice is very unique and is such a pleasure to listen to, and John is just a musical machine and can play almost anything it seems!

“Pawn Shop” is the title track off the album. This song is very catchy and has an edgy feel to it. This is a song the brothers know firsthand, as they used to sell their guitars to pawn shops when they were on their last dime.  The song is just about buying and selling, one man’s trash is someone’s treasure. You can find it all at the pawn shop!

“Dirt Rich” is a great “blue collar” song that fans can appreciate. The song is about working all day, your fridge is leaking, door is broke, but you still have it all! Life isn’t about the money, it’s about the memories and being laid back!

“Loving Me Back” featuring Lee Ann Womack is an amazing song! It’s a great song about realizing what you need in life. They sing about finding a high that doesn’t come from drinking or smoking. Love and acceptance is something that everyone longs for and we can all relate to that feeling at one time in our lives or another.

“Greener Pastures” was co-written with Maren Morris, a name I think most people will recognize now. This song is about getting out and moving on. We’ve all heard the saying – the grass ain’t always greener on the other side of the fence. The song has that mentality to it.  It says in the song they tried drinking, smoking, and praying and now it’s just time to go!

“American Crazy” to me is a great song about how we’re all the same and practicing acceptance. The song mentions a variety of different crowds or cliques, but yet we all bleed the same; were all “American Crazy”. The song has a very rock and roll feel to it and has a great little electric guitar solo in the middle of the song.

“Down Home” is a song about living in a small town. Looks can be deceiving, and I think that’s what this song is about. It may be a small town, but there’s a lot going on if you dig a little deeper. It’s a very country song (sings about the crows, dirt roads, the rivers, etc), and it sounds like a great life to me!

“Heart Shaped Locket” might be my favorite song on the album. Something about the melody and vibe of the song has me listening to it on repeat. The song is about a girl that’s running off. She kisses her man good bye, and it doesn’t feel right.  She’s leaving her man sitting there to drink and think. She got a new dress on and red lipstick, and he’s starting to think the worst.

“It Ain’t My Fault” is an upbeat song, almost sounds like you would march off to it. It has a great beat it it, I can’t help but tap along as I listen to it. This is also one of my favorite songs on the album. It’s about having a good time, and maybe you got caught up in it and did some things you regret; but it’s not your fault. The song is humerus as I think we all know a guy or even a girl that’s done something at a bar or at a party and blamed it on someone else.
Take a listen for yourself. The album is great and I can’t wait to see what these Brothers come up with next.

Maddie and Tae- Start Here – Review

untitled(3)

Released: August 28, 2015

Label: Republic Nashville/ Dot Records

This is the debut album from the duo; Madison Marlow (Maddie) and Taylor Dye (Tae), on which they co-wrote all 11 songs. The album has produced singles “ Girl in a Country Song”, “Fly”, “Shut Up and Fish” and the latest “Sierra”. “Start Here” debuted at number 2 of the Top Country Albums charts and number 7 on the Billboard 200. The duo is a refreshing addition to country music. They seem to carry themselves well and present themselves with class and poise wherever they go. Younger fans can relate to them and grow along with them. Their songs are refreshing and relatable, and have an innocence to them. As girls still fresh and young in life and in their career, they still have a lot to experience and go through in life

“Waitin’ on a Plane” is a quirky, twangy song. The girls harmonies are spot on and I love this song, the chorus especially. The song is about getting out and seeing what else is out in the world. It’s about finding your place in the world, and making your mark; finding the strength to go out and be on your own.

“Smoke” was co-written with Brad Tursi (who is a guitarist and member of Old Dominion). The song has a bit of a edgier/eerie feel to it, and is one of the slower/calmer tracks on the album. It’s about a boy, and not being there for the girl. The song compares his presence to that of smoke; turn around and he’s gone, can’t hold on to him, and he’s no good for her.

“Your Side of Town” co-written with the amazingly talented Blair Daly, who has written hits with/for Lauren Alaina, Gary Allan, Billy Currington, Craig Campbell, etc. This song is fun and upbeat; reminds me of something the Dixie Chicks would play. It’s a song you play with a smile on your face, while the message says “take a hike”. The song is a post break up warning to tell this guy to stay away, and his his half of town; the county line has his name on it.

“Right Here, Right Now” is a fun flirty song about being with a boy and new love. It’s a song about being in the moment, and telling the boy to kiss the girl, right here, right now, there’s no better time. We all know how the butterflies and jitters of new love feel. This song captures that moment perfectly.

“No Place Like You” is a upbeat, twangy sort of song. It was co-written with Jimmy Robbins, who has written for some of the biggest names in Country including Billy Currington, Blake Shelton, Dan + Shay, and Dallas Smith to name a few. It has a cute little Wizard of Oz reference to it, about being able to click your shoes and be with that person and back home.

“After the Storm Blows Through” was co-written by Country artist Trent Willmon. The song is another one of the quieter ones on the album. The song has a simplicity to it as well as a sadness. It’s a beautiful song about loss and tragedy, and being there after the events pass. The song is based on personal events, and I’m sure fans all around can relate to this song.

“Downside of Growing Up” was co-written by Frank Rogers, who has written and produced dozens of hits for Brad Paisley, Josh Turner, Darryl Worley and many more! The song is one we all can relate to, no matter what age you are now. The song is about growing up and waiting to get out of home, but as soon as you leave you realize you need Mom or Dad. It’s all about life’s up and downs and you realize that as you get older.

Kane Brown – Chapter 1 EP Review

2

Chapter 1- EP

Released: March 18, 2016

Label: Sony Music

The first single off the album “Used To Love You Sober” was released October 21, 2015, which is also Kane’s birthday!  The EP reached #2 on the Country Digital Song charts. Shortly after that, Kane released a second single “Last Minute Late Night” on November 4, and also a third song “I Love That I Hate You” (which is not on the EP) on November 30, 2015. Also not on this EP, Kane released a single called “Can’t Stop Love” in February 2016, which was a collaboration with Chandler Stephens. Kane signed with Sony Music Nashville in January of 2016.

What’s great about this EP, is that it is all new material. Often times with a new artist, we see a song or two carry over to a new EP. Not this time! Kane has really honed his craft as a singer/songwriter and the EP is amazing! If you’re looking for more “Bro Country” this is the EP for you. I hope we hear more from Kane in the near future; perhaps a full length album?

“Wide Open” is a feel good song about taking a ride with your girl, hitting the road, not a care in the world and driving into the “wide open”.

“Used To Love You Sober” starts off a bit quieter, and then it kicks it up at the chorus. This is a classic “country tale” about heartache and drowning your sorrows in the bottom of a bottle. He’s trying to erase the pain, and the memory of this girl. The song really has a beautiful, soft melody.

“Last Minute Late Night” is a fun, fast talking track about an impromptu date night. The song has a good beat, and you’ll be jamming along! The song for me has a bit of an R&B feel in the beginning with the voice synthesizing.

“Excuses” is a track that surprised me on the EP. On this song we really see a different side of Kane’s range and vocal abilities. In the song he’s trying to tell this girl, just be honest, she can’t pull one over on him. It’s her loss, love isn’t a game he’s going to play.

“There Goes My Everything” was written by Kane and Chris Young. This is a song we can totally picture Florida Georgia Line covering though! It’s fun song with fast paced at parts with a bit of that rapping/talking that we often hear from Tyler and BK. Kane sings about looking at his girl, watching her do her thing, day to day and he just can’t help but fall for her.

Kane will be out on the road this summer with Florida Georgia Line on their Dig Your Roots Tour.

Kane Brown – Closer EP Review

untitled

Closer- EP

Released: June 2, 2015

This was the first EP released from internet/Social Media sensation Kane Brown. He released the first single “Don’t Go City on Me” October 22, 2014. Kane recorded this album with funds he received through a Kickstarter account. The EP was recorded at the home of Noah Henson (who is Brantley Gilbert’s guitarist) in Nashville, TN. Kane’s voice is amazing! His voice sounds a little bit like Josh Turner or Chris Young; there is a richness and smoothness to it that makes you melt. Many people may look at him and not think he’s Country. His sound has been described as “Bro Country,” which would put him among the ranks of Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Cole Swindell, etc. We don’t know about y’all, but that’s a pretty good group of artists to be associated with. Also, a fun fact for readers: Kane went to school with fellow Country artist Lauren Alaina.

“Closer” has this sort of a dark, mysterious, very sexy vibe to it. The song is about getting with your girl, and not being able to keep your hands off her. The song wasn’t written in raunchy way, but the message and the lyrics in the song are hot!

“Hit The Gas” is a song about taking a girl you like on a ride. He’s living for the moment, going fast, bending the rules a bit and just having a good time. The song has a more country rock feel to it, and a catchy chorus. It’s fun and flirty, perfect for summer song!

“It Turns Me On” is a song all about his girl and how she’s imperfectly perfect for him. Everything she does is perfect and he loves it because it’s her. This is a song that if your man wrote it about you, you would melt! He notices all the little things about her, and knows her quirks and how she’s going to react before she even acts.

“Don’t Go City On Me” is a song about a girl that moves away and out of the country. He’s recalling the times they shared in the country and how she’s changed since she left. Through the song he’s pleading with her to not go “city”.

“Forgetting is the Hardest Part” is a slower, quieter song and it has such a beautiful melody. The song is played entirely on a piano; no guitar or drums. This is song about breaking up and going through the heartache. He’s longing for her kisses and the memories still make his heart break and it makes it hard to forget. We have all been there and know that moving on would be easier, if we could just get the memories out of your heads.

“Lost More Than I Found” featuring singer Lainey Edwards is a powerful ballad. Kane and Lainey really belt it out on this track and sound amazing together on the harmonies. The song has a more rock and roll feel to it, and starts off with a little electric guitar solo. This song is about breaking up and how you feel afterwards. It makes the perfect story for a duet!

Cam – Untamed – Cd Review

untitled(1)Released: December 11, 2015

Label: Arista Nashville/RCA

Cam (born Camaron Marvel Ochs) is a woman who is gaining a lot of buzz in Country Music. This full length debut album is a follow up to the EP “Welcome To Cam Country” which was released in March of 2015, with rave reviews. All 4 songs on the EP also appear on the album “Untamed”. Cam co-wrote all 11 tracks on the album, as well as co-producted the album. There have been three singles off the album; “My Mistake”, “Burning House” and the latest “Mayday” was released in February 2016. The album has reached the #2 spot on US Top Country Albums, and is all based on Cam’s personal life; which is something she seems very happy to share with her fans. Cam is not only a phenominal song writer, but she has powerhouse vocals to match!

“Untamed” is the opening track of the album, and it is a strong one! The song opens up with a bit of a harmonica intro and then it hits you! Cam really opens up and shows off her vocal range through this song. The song is about having a good time, party in the wood at night, and going with it- being untamed!

“Hungover on Heartache” starts off sort of slow and gradually builds up momentum as the song goes on. This song may be one of my favorites on the album. Every girl can relate to this song! Drinking is a good metaphor for love and this song is very well written. It captures exactly how bad a heartache can be.

“Cold in California”  is another slower song on the album. To me, the song is about longing for someone. The instruments are so soft and quiet at parts, this song has a very acoustic feel to it.

“Runaway Train” is a fast paced song and Cam rambles as fast as the train she’s singing about/making a metaphor about! The song  reminds me a bit of something Charlie Daniel’s Band would do. The song has a very country twang to it, with a lot of banjo pickin’ and a snappy melody.

“Half Broke Heart” is one of the slower tracks on the album. The song is clever; the lyrics were very well written. The chorus made me chuckle with all the things she references. The melody of the song is very quiet and the words really shine. You hear the guitar and little bit of drums, but the song has a very simple melody to it.

“Want It All” was co-written with Phil Vassar. This is an upbeat song, has a great beat to it; you’ll be clapping along in your car to it. This song is a great, motivation and uplifting track. This is definitely a song for female empowerment, in life and love.

“Country Ain’t Never Been Pretty”  is a fun, flirty song. It’s poking fun in a nice way about living in the city; being glam, wearing heels, tight jeans, hair in curls etc. Shes singing about being country, getting dirty, getting up early and how its not pretty, but it’s OK! Have you ever heard a song and pictured someone else singing it? Well for me this is a song a could see Kellie Pickler doing on one of her albums.

Charles Kelley – The Driver – Cd Review

untitledReleased: February 5, 2016

Label: Capitol Nashville

Charles Kelley is not new to the music scene, many of you should know him from Lady Antebellum fame. “The Driver” is the first solo venture from Charles, and he co-wrote 4 of the 9 tracks on the album. Charles has always been charismatic, but this album really allows him to shine as a solo artist. The album had had two singles released to country radio; “The Driver” featuring Dierks Bentley and Eric Pasley and “Lonely Girl”. Charles also did a  short tour in promotion of the album in early 2016. In my opinion, “The Driver” was not the strongest track on the album, and the label was probably hoping that the combined star power of the artists would have helped the track climb the charts. I feel that they are better song on the album which should have been picked as Kelley’s lead off single. “Lonely Girl” is a much stronger song and I was happy that this song was named his second single! This song was debuted on the ACM’s this past April.

“Southern Accent” may sound familiar to some older listeners, and it should. The song was originally sung by Tom Petty, and re-done as a duet to include the talented Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac (as side note Lady Antebellum did CMT Crossroads with Nicks in 2013). Their voices are heavenly together. The song is beautifully done and has this calmness to it.

“I Wish You Were Here” is another duet on the album, featuring Miranda Lambert. The duo’s harmonies are spot on. I would’ve liked Miranda to stand out a bit more on the track. She serves as more of a backup singer to Charles on the track, singing in sync with him, and not solo. Other than that, the song is a hit, and would make a great single for Kelley.

“Your Love” is a very upbeat song; and one of the faster tracks on the album. It has a very rock and roll feel to it.

“Dancing Around It” has a sort of blues feel to it. It starts off quiet, and then slowly bring in the beat with the drum and guitar. When the song comes to the chorus and has a little bit of a pick me up to it. Mid song there is a great, short little guitar solo. The chorus is catchy and you cant help but tap or even snap along with the song.

“The Only One Who Gets Me” is the perfect love song. It’s about all the flaws he has and being loved for them anyways. This song would make a beautiful wedding song. The song has a nice slow, rhythm to it and you can just sort of picture yourself waltzing along to the melody.

“Leaving Nashville” is one of my least favorite songs on the album. For me, the song is too repetitive. The melody of the song is beautiful with the piano, but there needed to be less of the chorus at the end of the song.
Be sure to listen to the album for yourself to hear all the amazing tracks!

Keith Urban – Ripcord – Cd Review

ripcord photo

Keith Urban – Ripcord

Released- May 6th, 2016

Label: Capitol Nashville

This is the 9th album Urban has released, and it does not disappoint! The album released just prior to the start of Urban’s Summer Tour of the same name with guests Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris. The album is different from any album Urban has released in the past. Ripcord features a variety of  sounds as well as collaborations, and sounds far from country at times. Urban gets a little help from pals Carrie Underwood, Pitbull and Nile Rodgers on two different tracks.

There have already been three singles released off the album prior to its release; “ John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16”, the #1 single “Break On Me” and the latest “Wasted Time”. Urban co-wrote 4 of the 13 tracks on this album, and served as producer on the whole album.

“Gone Tomorrow (Here Today)” is the lead off track on the album, and it’s a good one!! The song has some (what sounds like) banjo and great guitar rifts. It’s a great song about just seizing life and not taking a moment for granted. Great lyrics and a great melody make this a perfect song! I hope this is on the tour list as it would be an amazing song for Urban to rock live. (This will also be the opening song on tour this summer)

“Habit of You” is a slower love song with an almost R&B feel to it. This song is a perfect fit for Urban as lyrics in the song reference addictions of the past, which he has had his fair share of. The song is beautifully written.

“Sun Don’t Let Me Down” is a great party jam. This is a song I hope will become a single because I’d love to see the collaboration of Pitbull and Nile Rodgers play out live, in a show. This song has a catchy chorus and you can’t help but bop along to the song. The rhythm of the song has a bit of an exotic feel to it. (Rumor has it as well Keith has asked Brett Eldredge to sing this one with him live this summer)

“Gettin’ in the Way” is a fun, flirty song about a girl. The song starts off a bit quiet and slow and then really hits you with the chorus. This is one of those songs that could (and should) be in an epic love story/movie by Nicholas Sparks. The song is about the attraction between a boy and girl, and not being able to say goodbye at the end of the night.

“Blue Ain’t Your Color” is a slower, more dramatic song. This track was written by an amazingly talented group of writers including Hillary Lindsey. The song references all the things that the color blue is good for, but it’s not a fit for this girl and her broken heart.

“The Fighter” is a great collaboration with Carrie Underwood. My only complaint of the song is that Carrie isn’t singing more! The song is a duet about forgetting your past hurt and just falling in love again. This song is also not a sappy slow ballad, it’s upbeat and playful.

“Boy Gets a Truck” is one of the more country songs on the track. It’s a song that I would compare to the circle of life. The song is very clever with the words; its a story not as old as time, but as old as the first truck. This song would make for a great music video, as the song does a great job at telling the story. I wont ruin all the lyrics, but it is a song that many can relate to, and have probably gone through in their life.
Be sure to check out the album for yourself, as there are a few more tracks not mentioned in this review.
